ShoesPie.com is a web shop specializing in discount shoes of all kinds. While Men's and Kid's shoes are present on the site, the vast majority of the selection is made up of women's shoes. Female shoe lovers will find a huge selection of shoes in all different sizes, colors, and styles, and all at low to mid-range prices. This has proven to be a very successful recipe for ShoesPie. With a global Alexa ranking of 28,478, ShoesPie ranks comfortable among the top 30k most-visited websites in the world. Shoe-lovers unite!! Outside of its native China ShoesPie's second largest market is North America, from where it sources almost 15% of all its visitors.
Our overall experience with ShoesPie has been fairly pleasant. We found the site well structured, easy to navigate, and free of any major bugs. Although the homepage does suffer from relatively long load times, we were never timed out and never had too much of a problem with our user experience.
A few of our staffers couldn't wait to expand their shoe selection by a pair or two, so we were able to make a test order and give you an in-depth review of our ordering experience. Read on or check out the quick overview below to get an idea of what to expect from ShoesPie.
If you're like me and found a (few) pair of shoes to order, ShoesPie gives you the option of creating an account, logging in with Facebook, logging in with PayPal, or completing your order as a guest. I chose to use the one-click "Sign up with Facebook" function, but any of the other three will work to the same effect.
ShoesPie gives you the option to pay with PayPal, Credit Card (Visa, MasterCard, AMEX, and Discover), Web Money, and Western Union.
|PayPal||PayPal is (in our humble opinion) the fastest, easiest, and safest way to pay online. We use it for the 45-day buyer protection program.|
|Credit Card|| |
|Credit Card payments are, if not as quite as fast as PayPal, at least as easy. Just plug in your card info and wait for your order to arrive. Process your credit cards via PayPal to take advantage of their buyer protection, even when paying with plastic.|
|Western Union||Western Union is the official payment method of Ron Swanson and the "I ain't letting the internet touch my money" club. Just go to your local Western Union branch office, fill out a payment slip, and wait 1-2 weeks for the payment to process. Beware of extra fees associated with international money orders.|
|Web Money||Web Money is Russia's answer to PayPal. It's mostly used within Russia and the former Soviet Bloc states, but has been increasing in popularity worldwide. If you're a Web Money user, you can pay with it here.|
ShoesPie offers its customers 3 different flavors of delivery method: the Super Savings shipping, the more expensive Standard Shipping, and the ridiculously expensive Expedited Shipping. Shipping costs vary from "barely acceptable" all the way to "that costs more than my order" depending on the weight of your order. In all circumstances, we highly recommend taking advantage of free shipping. Even the "super saver" shipping turned our relatively-cheap pair of $19 boots into a moderately expensive pair of $34 boots. It almost doesn't seem worth it...
ShoesPie packaged and labeled all of our test orders quite well and they all had no problem getting through customs and arriving on our doorstep within 3 weeks of our order. Regardless of our experience, customs can stop even the best-declared and packaged international shipping so its worth it to check up on your country's rules and regulations surrounding international shipments and import fees.
For shipments entering the US, extra taxes and fees on your product are possible. Not every item is taxed when entering the country, and the majority are only subject to a nominal processing fee of between $2 and $9 in the case of a random customs stop. The amount to be paid, however, can vary widely depending on the product and how it’s sent. If you are concerned about your item, or are planning to order goods in excess of $500, it is worth it to check with the Customs Office at the port of entry to confirm any extra fees.
Any extra taxes or duties on your shipment will either be paid at your door when the mailman drops it off, or the package may be held at your local post office. In which case, you will need to go pick it up and pay any applicable fees in person.
ShoesPie allows customers to return items for any reason within 15 days of delivery. All costs associated with return shipping must be paid by the customer, and all returns must be registered with ShoesPie's customer service beforehand. ShoesPie takes about a week to process your refund, so you generally receive your money back about 7 days after they receive the items back.
One of the most interesting features of ShoesPie is its in-house fashion blog, which highlights new products, gives styling ideas, and comments on the latest trends at ShoesPie. The Blog also lets you create your own page, where you can share your orders and give reviews on items. Most customers will find it useful for the customer-posted reviews of products.
ShoesPie also features a tab called "Daily Deals," where it highlights the latest sales and clearance promotions. Guys get no love in most of the deals sections, but bargain-hunting ladies will find this tab to be a useful tool in getting the best deals on ShoesPie.
Shoe fans will find a lot to like on ShoesPie, but they'll also rack up quite a bill doing it. We're reluctant to wholeheartedly recommend ShoesPie because of the disgustingly high shipping costs, and the relatively high threshold to unlock Free Shipping. ShoesPie is a great site for cross-shopping with other sites, and can save you a lot of money. Those on the hunt for just one good pair of shoes may find the shipping costs difficult to stomach.
