Founded in Chiang Mai in 2009, NewFrog has managed impressive growth in the 6 years since its founding. NewFrog currently enjoys a top position among the top 55k most-visited websites in world, attracting thousands of visitors from all over the world everyday.
Experience with NewFrog
When it comes to online shopping, self control is not our strong suit. As such, we placed a few orders on NewFrog to give you the lowdown on what's so good (or not so good) about NewFrog, and to let you know if its worth your time.
The first thing we noticed on the attractive homepage is the sheer diversity of products on sale at NewFrog. On our first visit Faucet heads, USB lamps, and a sale on "All-Natural Wigs" were just some of the things being highlighted in the scrolling homepage banner. On the left side of the scrolling banner you'll find a long list of expandable categories, perfect for targeted browsing.
We were a little overwhelmed but, thanks to the intuitive menu system, we quickly settled on a particularly sturdy-looking canvas totebag. (Hey, one can only have so many strobelight keychains and USB-powered drinky-drinky birds...)

Payment
In true Chinese-webshop fashion, NewFrog counters the sheer diversity of its products by offering exactly one payment method to its customers: PayPal.
Credit Card purists and Wire Transfer champions are out of luck on NewFrog, although NewFrog does accept Credit Payments processed via PayPal. This isn't such a terrible thing in our opinion, however. We're big fans of PayPal and always recommend it for online orders because of its excellent 45-day Buyer Protection program, so if you've been avoiding PayPal until now NewFrog could your reason for finally crossing over.

Delivery Times and Shipping Times
Ostensibly at least, NewFrog offers customers 3 different shipping methods to choose from. The Free Shipping option costs nothing (obviously) and takes 15-25 business days to arrive. The Registered Airmail takes exactly the same amount of time as the shipping option, but for an extra $1.70 you get a tracking number. The Express Shipping option will rush your order to you within 3-6 business days, but easily increases the price of your order by 150-300%.
Considering the Free Shipping and Registered Airmail are actually the same shipping option, the number of shipping options is actually more like 2 (or 2.5), but who's couting?
NewFrog and Customs
Our test order from NewFrog arrived at our office well before 25 business day-mark and had no problem getting through customs. We weren't surprised either: the items were well packaged and the customs form was acceptably filled out.
That being said, it's always worth it to check out your country's rules and regulations surrounding international shipping and customs fees so that you know what to expect in case your order makes an unexpected stopover at your local customs office.
For shipments entering the US, extra taxes and fees on your product are possible. Not every item is taxed when entering the country, and the majority are only subject to a nominal processing fee of between $2 and $9 in the case of a random customs stop. The amount to be paid, however, can vary widely depending on the product and how it’s sent. If you are concerned about your item, or are planning to order goods in excess of $500, it is worth it to check with the Customs Office at the port of entry to confirm any extra fees.
Any extra taxes or duties on your shipment will either be paid at your door when the mailman drops it off, or the package may be held at your local post office. In which case, you will need to go pick it up and pay any applicable fees in person.
Return Policy
NewFrog gives its customers the ability to return items for any reason. NewFrog will even cover the return shipping costs, as long as you send your item back via regular airmail and don't use an expensive carrier.
It's not listed on the NewFrog website exactly how long after delivery customers have to return items, so you should try to report any intention to return to NewFrog Customer Service as soon as possible.
Special Features
Unique among most Chinese webshops, NewFrog features a WishList Function which allows customers to save items without placing them in the checkout cart. While this isn't a huge addition, it's surprisingly rare among NewFrog's local competitors and is a nice feature nonetheless.

With one of the most diverse and extensive selection of products available on the web, it's easy to understand how NewFrog has managed to achieve such a high international ranking in such a short time and why millions of shoppers all over the world buy from NewFrog every year. NewFrog makes a strong case for itself by offering just about everything most web shoppers are looking for at prices that often best competitors. Whether you're on the hunt for something in particular or you're just browsing around, NewFrog is worth a look. The peace of mind that comes with its flexible Return Policy doesn't hurt either.
