FancyLadies is one of the lesser known fashion-focused Chinese sites. Based in Hong Kong, FancyLadies offers a wide variety of formal women's wear and accessories. The site's relative anonymity is not helped by the very, uh, specific nature of the clothing on offer. While there are a fair share of wedding gowns, cocktail dresses and the like, many of the dresses are more "Desperate Housewives" than "Downton Abbey." There's also a surprising amount of leather and lace undergarments, for which some of the stock photos may not be entirely safe for work.
Given the rather specific clientele for such items, it's barely surprising that FancyLadies ranks only barely among the top 850k most-visited website globally. Interestingly the largest chunk of the site's visitors stem from the US and Canada, with North Americans accounting for over 20% of all FancyLadies shoppers.

FancyLadies forgoes offering PayPal as a payment option, leaving customers with the choice between Credit Card (Visa & Mastercard), Wire Transfer, and Western Union. While we prefer paying with PayPal, most shoppers should have little trouble paying with Credit Card or Wire Transfer. We recommend leaving Western Union alone because it can get expensive with international payments.

Shipping Costs and Delivery Times
FancyLadies gives its customers a relatively large number of shipping options to choose from. Unfortunately, FancyLadies only offers Free Shipping on certain, specially marked items and normal shipping costs can vary widely depending on the size and weight of your items. This makes it difficult to plan your total cost until you check out.
As you can see below, the FancyLadies Post (8-15 business days) option was the cheapest for us, followed by HK AirMail Shipping (15-20 business days), EMS Shipping (6-8 business days), DHL (3-5 business days), and UPS (3-5 business days).
FancyLadies and Customs
Despite the relatively expensive shipping ($7.58 for a $13 dress, wtf??), our FancyLadies order did arrive well within the promised 8-15 workdays with no problems from customs. It was packaged acceptably well and the customs declaration form was correctly filled out. Nevertheless, you should always read up on your country's rules and regulations surrounding international shipping and customs fees so you know what to expect in case your new dress needs to spend an extra night in customs.
For shipments entering the US, extra taxes and fees on your product are possible. Not every item is taxed when entering the country, and the majority are only subject to a nominal processing fee of between $2 and $9 in the case of a random customs stop. The amount to be paid, however, can vary widely depending on the product and how it’s sent. If you are concerned about your item, or are planning to order goods in excess of $500, it is worth it to check with the Customs Office at the port of entry to confirm any extra fees.
Any extra taxes or duties on your shipment will either be paid at your door when the mailman drops it off, or the package may be held at your local post office. In which case, you will need to go pick it up and pay any applicable fees in person.
Return Policy
FancyLadies allows items to be returned within 7 days of delivery as long as they fall into one of the following categories:
- You received the wrong item, or
- Your item arrived in the wrong color or size, or
- Your item arrived damaged or defective (only accepted with video or photographic proof).
You should also make sure that any returned items are in new, unused condition and are still in any original packaging, as FancyLadies reserves the right to refuse any returned items if they are found to be in a less-than-new condition when they arrive at the FancyLadies warehouse. All returns must be reported to FancyLadies customer service beforehand.
Special Features
FancyLadies features a special category called "Free Shipping" that highlights all items available for free shipping. Considering the high price of shipping you would otherwise pay, this should be your first stop on FancyLadies. There's also a special category "Daily Deals" that highlights any current sales. In case you can't find what you want in the Free Shipping section, the "Daily Deals" items may help you to save some money to offput the effects of having to pay 50+% of your items' price for shipping.
Conclusion
FancyLadies offers a wide array of women's wear, especially for women who like to feel sexy in their clothes. While the very distinctive styles represented on the site won't be to everyone's taste, those who like what they see will be rewarded with a large selection and low prices. Because of the expensive shipping and stringent return policy, however, we recommend only using FancyLadies as a tool to cross-shop between larger and easier shops such as EricDress and InnerOuter.
